The daughter of Bletchingly and Kingston Rose started her racing career as a 2 year old in January, 1984.
In the Spring of 1984 her major wins included the G3 Black Opal Stakes, G2 Edward Manifold Stakes and the G1 VRC Oaks. In the Autumn of 1985 she continued on to win both the G1 Rosehill Guineas and G1 Canterbury Guineas.
Spirit of Kingston was voted Victorian racehorse of the year in 1984/1985.
On her retirement she was sent to the US where she produced five foals between 1988 and 1995. Her most successful progeny to date is the impeccably bred Portland Player (by Champion US Turf Sire Theatrical) winner of the 1996 VRC Derby.
